Wilpena Pound,Day 3
I only have myself to blame. Yesterday there had been enough rain around to close everything down but through excellent good fortune we had not been rained upon. However we certainly were having our fair share of wind. Forgetting that someone is always listening I mentioned to Luce that a little shower to settle the dust wouybe nice. In my defence I had been watching sand and dust enter my tent via every possible orifice. Well we were rewarded with such ferocious dust settlers that we had to move Lucien’s tent to higher ground. It bucketed down with hail and thunder for most of the night. Roads remain closed

So to pass a bitterly cold day we had a leisurely breakfast at the resort restaurant and then a leisurely drive to Blinman, the only settlement we could access. Beautiful views with thunder squalls in the distance. Blinman is an old mining settlement that now is a quasi historical destination venue. Coffee and a toasty for lunch and then back to Wilpena to continue waiting. The weather has turned for the better but the cold will be bitter. Hopefully the bikes come off the ute tomorrow.
